The Friendship Vacuum (Attracting Friendships that Serve You and Last a Lifetime!)

 The Friendship Vacuum
(Attracting Friendships that Serve You and Last a Lifetime!)

What you’re about to read is a love story... well, not so much a love story as a love letter - A Soul Sister story and one of the greatest lessons of my life, to date.

There was a 5-year period in my twenties (up until about 2 years ago) where I found myself completely friendless. Sure I had my family, my boyfriend, his family and my coworkers but I didn’t have a BFF/female/friendship connection. It was a lonely time in my life.
How and why did I find myself in this situation? Well, believe it or not, it was by choice.

I once read that if you’re the most successful, ambitious and driven of all your friends, you better find new friends. And in order to attract those new friends, you must first make room in your life to receive them – you must create the vacuum.

At first that sounded just a tad harsh... I mean, I loved my friends, they’d been in my life for years! We’d been through all kinds of things together: dates, breakups, new careers and countless stupid decisions that often came back to bite us.

Some never did fool me - I knew they were only a part of my life out of convenience. But there were a handful that I felt I had developed true, meaningful friendships with. The idea that I might one day actually choose to move on from these friendships seemed completely improbable and highly unlikely.
But that is exactly what happened.

In 2007 I found myself longing for something more. I was working as a Nanny and, while I loved my job, I felt deep in my soul that something was missing. I was meant for more. I was capable of more. I had an entrepreneurial spirit that couldn’t be ignored.
I began studying the work of James Allen, Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale and Bob Proctor.

The information was mind blowing! The idea that my thoughts, feelings and actions determine my results was a truly liberating concept. I learned that I hold the key to the prison that is my mind. If I could control my thoughts, I could create anything I wanted!
I remember introducing a couple of friends to my new world – those who I believed would be present in my life for a lifetime. I was so excited to share my discovery with them and disappointed that all I received in return was skepticism and negativity. It was deflating and discouraging, to say the least.

But then I remembered... if I’m the most successful, ambitious and driven of all my friends, I had better find new friends. And in order to attract those new friends, I must first make the space for them and create, what I like to now call, The Friendship Vacuum.
As painful as it was I knew I HAD to make some changes with regard to the people I was hanging around. If I wanted to become a successful entrepreneur and have the time, money and mental freedom I longed for, I needed to spend time with others looking to achieve similar dreams – or better yet, people who have already achieved them.

I started spending less and less time with those friends in my life who seemed perfectly happy and content where they were and had no desire whatsoever for something more. They weren’t bad people, by the way; they just weren’t interested in changing or growing or improving.

Before long, I was lonelier than the man in the lighthouse.
I quickly began questioning my decision. It was a mental battle each and every day not to pick up the phone and apologize for my mistake in order to rekindle our friendship. But I stayed true to my decision and wished them well.
“Successful people make decisions quickly and firmly.
Unsuccessful people make decisions slowly, and they change them often.”
- Napoleon Hill

Months passed, then years, and I still didn’t have any new, close, true friends to speak of. And then there was one. Finally, after 5 years of waiting, waiting, waiting!
I would quickly discover that one is all I needed because the vision I held was very clear. I asked the universe for a BFF who...
· Loves me unconditionally
· Sees the beauty in my quirkiness
· Is interested in growing and studying together
· Can keep a secret
· Let’s me in
· Makes me laugh when I cry
· Can find the positive in any situation
· Is driven for success
· Operates with integrity, kindness and positivity
There are more traits I asked for, but those are the biggies. Enter Mykie Oyler.

It seemed out of the blue when she entered my life; I didn’t see it coming, yet I knew she was on her way and I welcomed the opportunity for new friendship with open arms. Once we met it was so obvious that she was exactly who I had been waiting for - and well worth the wait. She was all the things I asked for, and so much more.

There was no way I was squandering this answer to my prayers. I jumped in with both feet, complete faith and an open heart. I trusted her with my secrets. I let her see me cry. I let her in to my quirky side. And I offered her the same safe space of unconditional friendship, as well.
We became fast friends.

Now, 2 years later, ours is one of the most precious and valued relationships in my life. Where I lack, she excels and visa versa. We’re an incredible team.
And here’s an interesting insight I experienced by creating a Friendship Vacuum: We don’t attract to us what we want; we attract what we are.
During those lonely years, I put all my time and energy into learning and applying the material I was both studying personally and working with on a career basis. My mind became so clear and focused on the traits I dearly desired in a true friend, that I literally incorporated and reinforced those very same traits in myself.

I attracted what I wanted because it had become who I was. Isn’t that interesting?
The Friendship Vacuum may seem like a scary concept – and rightfully so. But it’s worth it! And that’s why I challenge you to really consider your relationships and whether they serve and support you in your growth.

Here’s my promise to you: If you will get clear about what you want and who you want to be, create a space for it in your life, and be willing to give as good as you get - you will be very pleasantly surprised by the kind of quality relationships waiting on the other side of the Friendship Vacuum!

To my Best Friend, my Partner in Crime, my Inspiration, my Soul Sister … I am grateful for you every day. I love you Mykie Jo Oyler!

XO
Becca

Manifested My Dream Trip To Bali

You Really Are as Old as You Feel

You Really Are as Old as You Feel

Ancient texts say that people once lived for hundreds and hundreds of years. Some lived for eight hundred years, some lived for five or six hundred years, but longevity was
commonplace. So what's happened? People changed what they believed. Instead of believing in living for hundreds and hundreds of years, people changed their beliefs over generations, and they came to believe in a reduced life expectancy.

We have inherited those beliefs of a reduced life expectancy. From the time we are born, the belief of how long we can live has been sewn into the fabric of our minds and our hearts. And from there we literally program our bodies from an early age to live for a certain amount of time, and our bodies age according to how we program them.

She Grew a Left Hand

 She Grew a Left Hand

Many people are very decisive and categorical in their statements that a man cannot grow a leg or finger, if missing. Let me quote from 'He Heals Today' by Elsie H. Salmon:

''Mildred was three years old when brought to me. She was born without a left hand
[Emphasis Mrs.Salmon's]. The arm ended in a point no bigger than the size of an index finger well above the wrist.''

Elsie Salmon said to the parents of this child in response to their question: ''If we believe that all things are possible to God, then God can grow this hand.''

''Within a month the point at the end of the deformed arm had doubled in size and was quite plump, whereupon the father, now seeing this remarkable development, said, ''Anything can happen.'' The following month there was a formation which looked like a thumb and which, at the time, we thought was a thumb. About three months following we found that this was not a thumb at all but that the growth was the whole hand at the end of the arm and this was unfolding like a flower before our eyes.''

She concludes by saying that those who were skeptical are now accepting it as an established fact.

Perhaps we should take a lesson from the rhinoceros. When you take off his horns and cut out the roots, it grows new horns. Cut the legs off a crab, and it grows new legs. If a man believed he could grow a new finger, leg, or any organ, he could experience his belief.

''With God all things are possible.'' (Matthew 19:26)

Love Became so Great...

 Love Became so Great...

This is a particular story of a woman who used love's power to restore her crumbling marriage stands out from the others, because this woman had lost all love for her husband. In fact , she couldn't bear to be near him. Her husband complained every day. He was sick all the time. He was depressed and angry, and verbally abusive to her and their four children.

When the woman learned about the power of giving love,
she decided right away to feel happier despite the problems
in her marriage. Immediately the atmosphere in their home
became lighter, and the woman's relationships with her
children got better. She then went through her photo albums,
looking at the photos of her husband when they first married.
She took some of the photos and put them on her desk to
look at them every day, and by her doing this, something
amazing happened. She felt the love she had first felt for her
husband, and as she felt the love return , her feelings of love
began to increase dramatically inside her. She reached a point
where she loved her husband more than she ever had in her
life. Her love became so great that her husband's depression
and anger di sappeared, and his health began to return. T his
woman went fro m wanting to be as far away as possible from
her husband to a marriage where they want to be with each
other as much as possible.

Titan and Titanic (Imagination Creates Reality)

 Titan and Titanic
(Imagination Creates Reality)

Today is yesterday’s fiction and imagination. Your strong imagination today shall become tomorrow’s fact.

Do you know the story of the Titanic that sank in 1912, was written 14 years before 1912 in a fictional story called “Futility” by Morgan Robertson in 1898? His fiction became fact 14 years after the book was published.

Here is a quote from Neville Goddard about the Titanic, (taken from one of Neville’s speeches)

“Do you recall seeing on TV, a dramatized version of the sinking of the Titanic? Do you recall it? Have you read the book. “A Night to Remember”? Well the book itself is by Walter Lord (A Night To Remember is a 1955 non-fiction account of the Titanic, but it also compared the Titanic to a fictional ship in the novel ‘Futility’ written in 1898): but 14 years before the actual harvest or that frightful event of the sinking of the Titanic a man in England wrote a book (here, Neville refers to the book “Futility” 1898 by Morgan Robertson).

He conceived this fabulous Atlantic liner and there he built her just like the Titanic, (only the Titanic was not built for 14 years) but he, in his imagination, conceived the liner of 800-ft. She was triple screw, she carried 3000 passengers, she carried few lifeboats because she was unsinkable; she could make 24 knots; and then one night he filled her to the brim with rich and complacent people, and on a cold winter night he sunk her on an iceberg in the Atlantic.

14 years later the White Star Line builds a ship(Titanic). She is 882 ft., she is a triple screw, she can make 24 knots, she can carry 3000 passengers, she has not enough lifeboats for passengers but she, too, is labeled unsinkable. She is filled to capacity with the rich, if not complacent, but the rich, because her passenger list was worth in that day, when the dollar was one hundred cents, two hundred and fifty million dollars was the worth of the passenger list. Today it would be a billion dollars. All the wealth of Europe and the wealth of this country was sailing on that maiden voyage out of Southampton. Five nights at sea in this wonderful glorious ship and she went down on a cold April night on an iceberg.

Now that man wrote a book either to get something off his chest because he disliked the rich and the complacent, or he thought it might sell or he thought this is the means of bringing him a dollar as a writer. But, whatever was the motive behind his book which, by the way, he called “Futility” to show the utter futility of accumulated wealth, but the identical ship was built 14 years later and carried the same kind of a passenger list and went down in the same manner as the fictional ship.

Is there any fiction? There is no fiction! Tomorrow’s world is today’s fiction. Today’s world was yesteryear’s fiction – the dreams of men of yesteryear.”

In Robertson’s novel in 1898, he named the ocean liner “Titan”, the largest and most luxurious ship in the world. The full title of his book was “Futility – The Wreck Of The Titan”!

We live in in a world of infinite probable realities! Create a new thought in your mind now with vivid imagination, and your path will be linked to match such a reality if you persevere! Bear in mind that each thought that you think is a probable reality in some unseen future dimension. Where are you heading? What are you creating? You have this wonderful NOW to choose a future you desire.

Similarities between Titanic and Titan:

Unsinkable
The Titanic was the world's largest luxury liner (882 feet, displacing 53,000 long tons), and was once described as being (nearly) "unsinkable".

The Titan was the largest craft afloat and the greatest of the works of men (800 feet, displacing 75,000 tons), and was considered "unsinkable".

Lifeboats
The Titanic carried only 20 lifeboats, less than half the number required for her passenger capacity of 3000.

The Titan carried "as few as the law allowed", 24 lifeboats, less than half needed for her 3000 capacity.

Struck an iceberg
Moving too fast at 23 knots, the Titanic struck an iceberg on the night of April 14, 1912 in the North Atlantic 400 miles away from Terranova.

Also on an April night in North Atlantic 400 miles from Newfoundland (Terranova) , the Titan hit an iceberg while traveling at 25 knots.

The Unsinkable Sank
The unsinkable Titanic sank, and more than half of her 2208 passengers died.

The indestructible Titan also sank, more than half of her 2500 passengers drowning.

What is Karma?

 What is Karma?

A king was touring his kingdom on his elephant. Suddenly he stopped in front of a shop in the market and said to his minister, "I don't know why, but I want to hang the owner of this shop." The minister was shocked. But before he could ask the king why, the king had moved on.
The next day, the minister went to that shop dressed as one of the locals to see the shopkeeper. He casually asked him how his business was faring. The shopkeeper, a sandalwood merchant, reported sadly that he had hardly any customer. People would come to his shop, smell the sandalwood and then go away. They would even praise the quality of the sandalwood but rarely buy anything. His only hope was that the king would die soon. Then there would be a huge demand for sandalwood for performing his last rites. As he was the only sandalwood merchant around, he was sure the king's death would mean a windfall.
The minister now understood why the king had stopped in front of this shop and expressed a desire to kill the shopkeeper. Perhaps, the shopkeeper's negative thought vibration had subtly affected the king, who had, in turn, felt the same kind of negative thought arising within.
The minister; a noble man, pondered over the matter for a while. Without revealing who he was or what had happened the day before, he expressed a desire to buy some sandalwood. The shopkeeper was pleased. He wrapped the sandalwood and handed it over to the minister.
When the minister returned to the palace, he went straight to the court where the king was seated and reported that the sandalwood merchant had a gift for him. The king was surprised. When he opened the package, he was pleasantly surprised by the fine golden color of the sandalwood and its agreeable fragrance. Pleased, he sent some gold coins to the sandalwood merchant. The king also felt sorry in his heart that he had harbored unbecoming thoughts of killing the shopkeeper.
When the shopkeeper received the gold coins from the king, he was astounded. He began to proclaim the virtues of the king who had, through the gold coins, saved him from the brink of poverty. After some time, he recalled the morbid thoughts he had felt towards the king, and repented for having entertained such negative thoughts for his own personal goal.
If we have a good and kind thought for another person, that positive thought will come back to us in a favorable way. But if we harbor evil thoughts, those thoughts will come back to us as retribution.
"What is Karma?" asked Swami
Many replied, "our words, our deeds, our feelings, our actions......"
Swami shook his head and said
"Your thoughts are your Karma!"
